On this day I pause
Reflecting on the past year
Sizing up the next
Planning for what is to come
And the world keeps on turning
On this day I pause
Reflecting on the past year
Sizing up the next
Planning for what is to come
And the world keeps on turning
What a summer child!
And yet, these words still ring true.
For every evening
The gates of reality
Blends and bends towards soaring flight.
May these memories,
Fill you with joy, not sadness,
For they are not lost,
Just tucked away for a time,
To be remembered again.
Day two I waited,
Listened to the alleys’ song,
And observed the sun,
Four walls, a ceiling, and floor,
Yearning for that open door.
The start of something,
Brand new for me, but perhaps
Not so new to you,
But know it gives me comfort,
To have you on this journey.
Take me by the hand
Lead me down the unknown trail
Straight into the East
Where we will picnic among
Golden sun and leaves alike
Mount Tamalpais
Strongly set, vibrant, and green
Whisper what you see
For I am no longer young
And your shoulders are too high
Exhaustion greets me,
At the gate that is our home,
You meet me grinning,
Arms ready for a long hug,
The best welcome home ever.
When brambles obscure
And block your journey upward
Fight your way through it
The valleys from your journey
Are beautiful from above
May the stones ahead
Mark your next horizon line
Rather than your fall
I will remember your eyes
Full of love and adventure.
