Why do I pause so?

Is it failure that roots me

A steady rhythm

You, me, and where the road meets the sky

We laughed our way South

Cheerful Bluebonnets waving

As we pass at highway speeds.

What new adventure,

Breaks along the horizon,

Behind Mount Rainer,

A shadow or a sunrise?

Perhaps they are the same coin.

This our first dinner

Together after a /year/

Such exquisite taste

Still distant and cold outside

But my heart two times fuller
