Mount Tamalpais
Strongly set, vibrant, and green
Whisper what you see
For I am no longer young
And your shoulders are too high
Mount Tamalpais
Strongly set, vibrant, and green
Whisper what you see
For I am no longer young
And your shoulders are too high
Exhaustion greets me,
At the gate that is our home,
You meet me grinning,
Arms ready for a long hug,
The best welcome home ever.
Beyond these glass panes,
Lives a world, ever-moving,
Wonderful and wild!
And yet, the raindrops stop me,
From leaving these four bare walls.
When brambles obscure
And block your journey upward
Fight your way through it
The valleys from your journey
Are beautiful from above
May the stones ahead
Mark your next horizon line
Rather than your fall
I will remember your eyes
Full of love and adventure.
I arose today
Before a sweetened sunrise
And I rode the clouds
To the Pacific Ocean
Making faces at The Moon
See the
World below,
Drift away
Without effort,
Take flight
Into blue,
Skies gilded
Silver and white,
Backlit by a
Golden sun.
Not every poem,
Will glitter and sparkle so –
No matter how much,
You polish or cut away,
Some will be rough and tumble.
The words come slowly…
On unsteady legs they rise,
Resisting stage fright.
Under a single spotlight,
Each verse shall bud and blossom.
Finally at home
To rest and to recover
Just as soon as I ~
Finish these eighty e-mails,
Three meetings, and these time sheets.
